Karma is Reddit's reputation currency: points earned when your posts and comments get upvoted, lost when they get downvoted. It splits into post karma and comment karma.
Why marketers care
Karma is the gate to everything on Reddit. Most niche subreddits silently require 50-100+ comment karma and weeks of account age before you can post links, automod removes anything below the threshold, and you'll never know.
How to build it safely
Two weeks of genuine comments in your niche subreddits (no links, no product mentions) is usually enough. Warm-up tools can systematize this across accounts, but the comments still need to be real contributions, because mods and LLMs both read your history.
