llms.txt is a proposed standard, a plain-markdown file at your site root (/llms.txt) that tells AI crawlers what your site is about and which pages matter most.

What goes in it

  • A one-paragraph description of your product and who it's for
  • A curated list of your key pages with one-line summaries
  • Optionally, links to markdown versions of important pages

Does it actually work?

Evidence is mixed but the cost is near zero. Some AI crawlers read it, and it guarantees your positioning is available to models in a clean, unambiguous format. A cheap, occasionally decisive GEO play.
